* Long exposure *

How terribly exciting!

The kind folks at DCblogs.com have selected one of my dragon boat festival photos to run as banner art ALL next week. I had originally submitted my "birdman" photo, but this one was a better fit for the space requirements.

The photo should be running July 31st through August 5th or so. If you have a photo that you'd like to submit, please contact meghan at zeitgeistagency dot com.

*Live for Myself*

As I'm listening to Ken Oak on a surprisingly cool Sunday morning in the middle of July, I realize that I've come to appreciate the simple pleasure of personal downtime. I don't mean the kind of downtime that you normally use for laundry or to paybills, I'm referring instead to self reflection. I've never been one to really slow down and focus on anything, my mother has called me a daydreamer for as long as I can remember. Given the pace of the modern electronic world, sometimes it's healthy to slow down and take a moment to discover and delve deeper into the nuances that you would normally miss.

Perhaps the true challenge of life is to recognize and appreciate what you already have. For some of us, that has proven to be a very difficult task indeed.

*Horses are a girl's best friend*

Who needs diamonds when you can have 400 horses at your command? Maserati recently introduced driving classes to rival the luxury programs of BMW and Mercedes.

The new program includes 2 full days of driving classes and a weekend at an exclusive winery chateau in GA. What's not to love? At $3,400 for the whole weekend including accomodations, it comes in at a lower price than the BMW classes, making this a once in a lifetime opportunity that's truly a steal.

Hello sugar daddy? Ok, I still want the ice :-).

Seen on the National Mall.....I genuinely wanted to interview this man to find out more about his motivations, what he did for a day job....and whether he had a wife and kids to go home to.

*Look Mum, We're on TV*

Rewatching "Bridget Jones' Diary" on tbs tonight, wickedly funny stuff, I'm a sucker for anything with the dashing Colin Firth (incidentally, the "BJ Edge of Reason" DVD which I won has an adorable extra of Renee Zellweger pretending to interview Colin Firth (as Colin Firth) for her fictional show Sit Up Britain). I had loved BJD the first few times around as well, but for some reason, it never really HIT me that the movie was about a 30 something single woman and how she gets berated about her "situation" by those around her. Funny isn't it how re-examination and the passing of time can change one's point of view? Thankfully I'm surrounded by equally good friends, just like BJD who think nothing of it.

One scene of BJD stuck out in particular on this viewing. BJ does a firestation piece for her Sit Up Britian show and ends up sliding down a firepole in a mindress and broadcasts her knickers on national TV. The city that the alleged firestation is located in is Lewisham, a town southeast of London.

It also happens to be the city that I was born in.
