Wearing out my Library Card

I've been on a reading frenzy lately, which is a rarity for me.

I inhaled the "Da Vinci Code" over the course of 2 quick nights. The first half had me gripped in the throes of "holding my breath" excitement. The second half was a disappointing yawn fest. I couldn't believe how drasticly different the writing styles were. I'm not even going to attempt to delve into the theological issues with the book, but I did do some research into the number of panes of glass in the Louvre pyramid. It is not the convenient number "666" as the author would have you believe. I also watched a History channel documentary that delved into the historical background, terribly interesting to someone who has a very shalliow knowledge of religion.

I also devoured the recent suggestion "House of Lies". The author quit his job as head writer for the show "Pop Up Videos" to pursue an MBA. He subsequently became a management consultant working for (tada....you guessed it) the same place I'm currently working. At any rate, the video was amusing enough to suck me into borrowing it from the library.

Up next is "Freakanomics", I'm sure you're familiar with this one, on the cover it has a granny smith apple that's cut open to reveal an inside similar to an orange. I'm guessing that it will be similar to the book "blink" which was also fun quick read.

In the pipeline: "Hershey", "Angels and Demons", "Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress"....
